influence
Arun's work is influenced by strong visual experience. His works are bold yet subtle, photorealistic but surreal. During his early years his work was influenced by several internationally acclaimed artists. Gopal Sanyal, Karuna Saha, M. F. Hussain, Sayad Sahabuddin, Bikash Bhattachariya, Pradip Maitra amongst many others, and he was fortunate to be the direct disciple of some of them. His work is also heavily influenced by the masters of the Impressionist and post impressionist era.
"Painting is my language. I communicate with my lines and strokes, through my canvas, my brushes, paints, or my pen and ink. I paint what I see, what I feel important to share with my viewers."
"I like clean lines and employ a “less is more” approach; yet I want to see some evidence of the hand on the canvas– a texture, or the cross-hatch, or an overlay of lucid paint, layer after layer that speak to the viewer and bring out the story behind the piece. That, combined with a distinctive stance or gesture of my subject, give the piece an individual identity." |
